Caring For America Committee Report    

The Caring for America (CFA) meeting was held on Tuesday, October 2, 2008. 

The CFA committee will supply desserts for the November 11, Veterans’ Day Celebration at Chester Sims Veterans’ Home. 

Thanksgiving cards, phone cards and packages with homemade cookies and breads will be sent to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Regional Army Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany.

We are beginning a new activity in support of the Rescue Mission. We will be decorating a Christmas tree to be auctioned at the Mission’s Festival of Trees with the proceeds going to the Rescue Mission. Committee members will take a tour of the Mission’s facilities and attend a luncheon with Reverend Billy Fox on Thursday, October 23.

We are also contributing clothing to the Returning Students Clothes Closet at the Gulf Coast Community College.

The CFA Committee has several ideas for literacy projects which we will discuss at our January, 2009, meeting.

We request all members help us by bringing one of more of the following items to the FRWPCB membership meeting, Tuesday, November 11.

1.     Global AT&T phone cards

2.     Home baked cookies or breads

3.     Clothing for the clothes closet
